Computer Networking
Understanding of basic principles such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, port forwarding
Hi, my name is David Berquist.
I recently completed a bachelor's degree in computer science from Northern Illinois University.
Through my education, I have become experienced in the Microsoft and Google office suites, have strong knowledge of PC and Mac hardware, software, and networking issues, knowledge of network connectivity (switches, routers, hubs, servers) and some knowledge of protocols such as DNS, DHCP, FTP, and TCP/IP. I also gained experience in programming C, C++, Assembly, and Bash. I gained experience troubleshooting software.
For years now I have tinkered with and designed my own games. Through this, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge related to troubleshooting computers and their software, and creating and following a guideline for a project. I currently work in a team of 15 developers on a small game, which has given me experience working in a team environment that requires pitching ideas and being persuasive about them.
I also run a server for my other game, which has given me some knowledge about setting up a server environment, and some additional networking knowledge such as servers, proxies, and port forwarding/firewall configuration.
I have been a drummer for around 15 years, and currently play for a non-profit called the Crystal Lake Strikers Drumline. We play in parades in the Chicagoland area, and teach kids of all ages how to play drums!
